Will of Thomas Matteson

In the Name of god Amen
I Thomas Matteson of Coventry in the county of Kent in the
State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations yeoman
being at this time in Health and of a Sound disposing mind
and memory but Considering the uncertainty of Human
Life do think fit to make this my last will and Testament
in manner following; First. I Recommend my soul in the
Hand of allmighty god and my body to the earth to be
buried in a decent christian Like manner by my
Executors herein after appointed and Touching such wordly
Estate where with it hath Pleased god to bless me
I give demise and dispose of the same in the following
manner
Imprimis my will is and I do hereby order that all my
just debts and funeral Charges be duly and

exactly paid in some Short Convenient time after my decease
by my Executors hereinafter appointed - - - -
Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife esther
Matteson one third Part of all my Indoor moveable
Estate also one Cow and fifty Dollars in money
to be paid and delivered unto her in one year after my Decease by
my Executors hereinafter to be named and appointed the above
gifts to my said wife is not to be Considered in Leiu of her
Right of Dower in my Real estate but in addition thereunto
Item I Give and bequeath unto my son George Matteson all the land
that I bought of Job Greene of Warwick and Benjamin
Fenner which land is scituated lying and being in said
Warwick and is part of the farm formerly owned by Col Christopher
Greene late of said warwick deceased I also give unto my
said Son George all my blacksmith Tools and one
Hundred Dollars in money to be paid in one year after
my decease to him my said son George by my Executors
herein after appointed to be and remain unto him my said son
George and his heirs and assigns forever - - - -
Item I Give and bequeath unto my Two Daughters namely
Sarah Matteson and Marcy Matteson the Lot of land
that I bought of Christopher Greene (son of Christopher)
said Land is scituate in the Town of Coventry in the County
of Kent joining the north side of the Highway close to my
Dwelling house and Contains by Estimation forty seven
acres be the same more or less To them my said Daughters
Sarah and marcy their heirs and assigns forever Provided
However if either of my aforesaid Daughters Sarah or Marcy
Shall die without Leaving lawfull Issue the surviving
one to Inherit the share of the one deceased to be and remain

with her the Surviving one and to her heirs and assigns forever
Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Matteson my
Side Saddle - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - -
Item I further give unto my Two Daughters Sarah Matteson
and Marcy Matteson two third parts of all my Indoor
moveable estate to be equally divided between them I also
Give to my said Daughters Sarah and Marcy one cow and
one Hundred Dollars in money to Sarah and one cow and
one Hundred Dollars in money to Marcy to be paid in one
year after my Decease by my Executors hereinafter named
I also give to my said Daughters Sarah and Marcy the use
and occupation om my Dwelling house as Long as they shall

Item I Give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Mary Matteson
Daughter of my son George Matteson Ten Dollars in
Money to be paid by Executors in one year after my decease
Item I Give and bequeath unto my Grandson Henry Arnold Matteson
son of my son George Matteson Ten Dollars in money to be paid
by my Executors in one year after my decease - - - - - -
Item I Give and bequeath unto my Grandson Thomas Jefferson Matteson
son of my son George Matteson Ten Dollars in Money to be
paid in one year after my decease by my Executors -----------
Item I Give and bequeath unto my grandaughter Salley Matteson
Daughter of my son George Matteson Ten Dollars in
Money to be paid by my Executors in one year after my
decease.

to be paid in one year after my decease by my Executors
Item I Give and bequeath unto my grandaughter Loisa Matteson
Daughter of My son John Matteson Ten Dollars in Money
to be paid by my Executors in one year after my Decease
Item I Give and bequeath unto my sons Elisha and John
Matteson My Homestead farm also all the Residue and
Remainder part of my Real estate that is not herein before
given away also all my Live stock and farming utentials
and all my money and Securities for money also all my
Estate both Real and Personal of Every kind that is not
herein before Given away to be Equally Divided between them
wherever the same may be found to be Lying or being to be and
Remain unto them my said Sons Elisha and John to them
their heirs and assigns forever - - - - - - - - - -
And my will is and I do hereby order that my Two sons Elisha
Matteson and John Matteson In Consideration of the aforesaid
Gifts to them pay off all my Just Debts and Legacies and funeral
Charges
Lastly I do hereby Constitute ordain and appoint my said
Two Sons Elisha Matteson and John Matteson Executors
To this my Last will and testament and to See the same
duly performed according to the True Intent and meaning thereof
and I do hereby utterly Disallow revoke disannul and
make void all and Evry other or former Testaments Wills
Legacies and bequeaths and Executors by me made ratifying

Confirming allowing and Declaring this and no other to
be my last will and testament -----------------------
