Will of Asa Matteson
Dated April 30, 1857
In the name
of God Amen, I, Asa Matteson, of the town of Exeter, in the County of Otsego,
and State of New York, of the age of eighty two years, being of sound mind
and memory, do make, publish, and declare this my last will and testament
in manner following, that is to say;
First, I give and bequeath to my wife,
Elizabeth, her support to be provided for by the executor.
Second,I give and bequeath to my son John S. Matteson, the sum of three hundred
dollars to be paid one half in one year after my decease, and the other
half in two years after my decease.
Third, I give and bequeath to
my son Clark R. Matteson, the sum of three hundred dollars, including a
note of one hundred and fifty dollars, which I now hold against him, which
balance is to be paid in one year after my decease.
Fourth, I give
and bequeath unto my son Adam A. Matteson, the sum of two hundred dollars,
payable in one year after my decease.
Fifth, I give and bequeath
unto my daughter, Roxana Dickey one dollar.
Sixth, I give and bequeath
unto John R. Dickey, the sum of ten dollars. Also the sum of ten
dollars to Clark Dickey, and also the sum of ten dollars to Elizabeth Mott,
wife of Sodowick Mott, which legacies are to paid in one year after my
decease, the above legacies to be paid by my executor.
And lastly
I give and bequeath unto my son Asa Matteson Jr all the rest of my real
and personal estate of whatsoever name, or wherever the same may be found
and I do hereby appoint him sole executor of this my last will and testament,
hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
