Solomon and Jared Matteson to Laban Matteson
Dated March 31, 1832
Know all men by these presents that We Solomon Matteson &
Jared Matteson both of Shaftsbury in the County of Bennington
& State of Vermont in Consideration of one hundres & twenty
Dollars to us paid by Laban Matteson of Shaftsbury aforesd
The receipt whereof we hereby acknowledge do by these
Presents give,grant,bargain sell & convey unto the said
Laban Matteson his heirs & Assigns a certain parcel of Land
Situate in Shaftsbury aforesd bounded & described as follows
VIZ:Beginning one rod east of a certain Spring near the school
House in district No 9 thence running North 23½° East 1 1/12 rods
To Thomas Warrens Land thence West 9° North 20 rods thence South
9° West 1½ rods thence East 7° South 16 rods to the first bound
Together with all privileges and appurtenances to the said Land
In any [?] appertaining and belonging. To have & hold
The above granted premises to the said Laban Matteson his
heirs and assigns to his & their use & [behalf?] forever and we
The said Solomon Matteson & Jared Matteson for ourselves
Our heirs Executors and administrators do covenant with with [sic]
The said Laban Matteson his heirs & assigns that we are lawfully
Seized of in fee of the aforementioned premises that they are free from
All encumbrances that we have good right to sell and convey the
Same to the Sd Laban Matteson as aforesaid and that we will
& that our heirs shall warrant & refund the same to the said
Laban Matteson his heirs & assigns forever against the lawful
Demands of All persons. In testimony whereof we the sd Solo
Mon Matteson & Jared Matteson have hereunto set our hands
& seals this 10th day of July in the year of Our Lord One thous
And Eight hundred & thirty One
