Richard and Martha Matteson to John Reynolds
Dated October 25, 1766
To all people to whom these presents shall Come
I Richard Matteson of West Greenwich in the County of
Kent and Colony of Rhodeisland in New Englandyeom
anor Courrier Sends Greeting Know ye that I the said
Richard Matteson for and in Consideration of the Sum of
Seventy five Dollars and a half and one Eigth part of a
Dollar to me in hand paid Equivelant to Lawfull Money
Before the Ensealing hereof well and truly paid by John
Reynolds of North Kingstown in the County of Kings
County and Colony aforesd yeoman alais Cordwainer
the Receipt whereof I Do hereby acknowledge and my Self
therewith fully Sattisfied Contented and paid and thereof and
of Every part and parcel thereof Do Exonerate acquit and
Discharge him the Said John Reynolds his heirs Executors and
Administrators forever by these presents Have Given Granted
Bargained Sold Aliened enfeofed Conveyed and Confirmed
and by these presents Do freely fully and absolutely give grant
Bargain Sell Alien Enfeof Convey and Confirm unto him the
Said John Reynolds his heirs and assigns forever one certain
Tract or parcel of and Situate Lying and being in West Green
wich in the County of kent aforesaid and Contains by Estim
ation Fifteen acres Neither more or Less it is Buted and
Bounded as followeth Northerly and Easterly on a highway South
erly on Land of pasco whitfordWesterly on Land of the
Grantor to Run the aforesaid Lands and to make the Southern
and Northern Lines both of a Length with a Dwelling house
theron Standing or be the Same Bounded or Reputed to
Be bounded Together with all the other buildings orchards
fences Woods Ways Easements Waters Water Courses prive
ledges appurtenances and hereditaments thereon and there
unto Belonging orin any wise appertaining.....
To Have and to Hold the said granted and
Bargained premises with all the appurtenances priveledges

priveledges and Commodities to the Same Belonging orin
any wise appertaining to him the Said John Reynolds his heirs
and assigns forever to his and their only proper use benefit and behoof
forever and I the Said Richard Matteson for my Self my heirs executors
Administrators Do Covenant promise and grant to and with the said
John Reynolds his heis and assigns that at and before the Execution
hereof I am the true Sole and Lawfull owner of the above bargained
premises and am Lawfully Seized and possesed of the Same in
my own proper Right as a good perfect and absolute Estate of
Inheritance in fee Simple and have in my Self good Right
full power and Lawfull authority to grant bargain Sell Convey
and Confirm the Said Bargained premises in manner as
abovesd and that the Said John Reynolds his heirs and assigns
Shall and may from time to time and at all times forever
hereafter by force and virtue of these presents Lawfully peacibly
and quietly have hold use occupy possess and Enjoy the said
Demised and Bargained premises with all the appurtenances free
and Clear and freely and Clearly acquit Exonerate and
Discharged of from all and all Manner of former or other
Gifts Grants Bargains Sales Leases Mortgages will Entails
Joyntures Dowries Judgements and Executions or Incumbrances of
what Name or Nature Soever that Might in any Manner
or Degree obstruct or make void this present Deed : furthermore
I the Said Richard Matteson for my Self my heirs
Executors and Administrators Do Covenant promise And Engage
the above Demised premises to him the Said John Reynolds
his heirs and assigns against Lawfull Claims or Demands
of any person or persons Whatsoever forever to Warrant Secure
and Defend by these presents : and Martha Matteson
wife of him the afore Said Richard Matteson Doth hereby for the
Consideration above mentioned Do freely Willingly give
yeild up and Surrender all her Right of Dower and
power of thirds of in and unto the above Demised

hereunto Set our hands and Seals this Twenty fifth Day
Day of April in the Sixth year of The Reign of our
