Hezekiah and Jeremiah Matteson to Peleg Matteson
Dated April 22, 1776, Recorded April 24, 1776

To all People to Whom these Presents Shall Come greeting Know ye
that we Hezekiah Matteson & Jeremiah Matteson Both of Volluntown in ye
County of Windham and Colony of Conecticut for and in Consideration of ye
Sum of 120 pounds Lawful money to us in hand paid By Peleg Matteson
of Volluntown County and Colony afore sd Do Give grant Bargain Sell Con=
vey and Confirm unto him the Said peleg matteson his heirs and assigns
for Ever one Lot or pircel of land Scituate and Lying in Volluntown
affore sd Containing By Estimation Sixty acres be the same more or
Less Bounded as foloweth (viz) begining at a heap of Stones Standing on
the South Line of frances Smiths Land about one Rod South from a
white oak tree marked - from thence Southerly forty Rods to a walnut
tree marked - from thence Easterly to a white oak tree marked which
is the North west Corner of a Lot of Land Known by the Name of
John Smiths Ceder Swamp from thence south four Degrees west to a
white oak tree marked the South west Corner of Sd Ceder Swamp from thence
East twelve degrees South about 30 Rods to a Bound marked from thence North
two Degrees East to a Bound marked Near where the Brook falls into ye Ced=
-er Swamp from thence Easterly By the Brook that Runs the North Side of
the Ceder Swamp untill it Comes to a Stake and Stones on the west Line of
the fourth Lot or Devition Now Belongs to the heirs of John harris of
Nantucket from thence Notherly by sd harrises Land till it Comes to Land
formerly Belonging to William Adams from thence westerly By Sd Land
untill it Comes to a Stake and heap of Stones Standing Eighty Rods and
a half Easterly from the walnut tree above mentioned from thence Northerly to
a Stake and heap of Stones in the South Line of frances Smith's land from
thence to the Bound first mentioned Excepting one half acre of Land at ye
East End of the old Bridg for the Convenience of halling out Ceder and having
there on to Gather with the priverlidg and Liberty of a way or Cart Road
to Carry the Ceder awat at or Near the way the Road Now Leads to Have
and to hold the above Bargained premises with the appurtances to
him the sd peleg matteson his heirs and assigns for Ever to their own
proper use and Behoof and also we ye sd Hezekiah matteson and
Jeremiah matteson Do for ourSelves and heirs Executers and administrators
Covenant with the Said peleg matteson and his heirs and assigns that ye
time of and untill ye Executing of these presents I am the Sole owner
of the above Described premises and have good Right full power and Law
-ful athority to Sell ans assign the Same in manner and form as a=
above written and here By oblidge ourselves and heirs for Ever to warrent
and Defend the above Granted premises to him the sd peleg matteson his heirs &
assigns against all Claims and Demands what So Ever in witness where of we
have here unto Set my hand and Seal the 22 Day of April AD 1776 Sined

to record and           instrument and acknoledged the Same to be their free act and Deed
